bulletDear Jon,
I own a 1990 300E manual transmission. Recently I went underneath the car just for curiosity sake and noticed that there is a  peanut
shape opening at the bottom front of the casing, large enough I could see the crankwheel. Should it not have a rubber/plastic cap to cover the opening ? Thank you
bulletThere is a cap that is supposed to be there. The plastic gets old and falls apart, then falls out. Each cap is different for almost every model. You will have to visit the dealer for this part. I am sure it is only a couple of bucks. Make sure you have your chassis or vin # with you if you do not take the car with you to get it. JON
