  • Dear Jon, I typed in SRS on a google search and got your response to someone with an E class Mercedes.  I am having the same problem, only now the intermittent light flashes on the SRS and the airbag light on the console are on all the time.  I just went to my dealer and they are charging $95 for the diagnostic computer time, and have ordered new parts and will charge me $400 for the 4-5 hour job on Thursday.  Is it too late for me to have my brushes cleaned instead?  Thanks, Liz

 

  • You really can't clean the brushes. You must replace the contact rings and brushes. If you get too many more flashes of the light you will need a control unit. They run about a grand. Keep your appointment. Thanks for the email. Better to be safe. JON
