- HI Jon,
Great website!! You know your stuff really well. I have a question for you,
I
have a '86 MB 560SEL and at low idle speeds (like sitting at a light) the
oil
pressure fluctuates and the engine cuts off. Could you help me with my
problem, this is becoming very frustrating. Thank you
Terry
- Thanks for the email. There are a ton of things that
could cause your problem or problems. The first thing to check in the
overvoltage protection relay fuse. The relay sits in between the firewalls
in the engine compartment. Find the brake fluid reservoir, then go towards
the center of the car, the relay is silver in color and has a red 10 amp
fuse in it. Make sure the fuse is good. The next most likely thing to check
is the idle air valve located next to your distributor cap. It has
cylindrical shape with a two prong plug on it. You cannot really service
this item, you may have to replace it. The idle is controlled
electronically, There are many things to check first, almost to many to list
here. Check those things and let me know, And one more thing, make sure you
have good strong battery voltage. JON
