- Jon - Nice site! I too collect model Mercedes (among other makes)
. I
went to your service page but the links mentioned didn't appear, so I
hope you Don't mind the email. I have a 1978 300D with 131K. Lately,
the
auto lo and auto high on the climate do not work. When pressed, no air
comes through, no fan comes on, etc. I have the temp wheel set at 65.
Turning the compressor on or off doesn't seem to make a difference.
Every once in awhile, the lo and high do work, but hardly ever. The
defrost does work, however, and the fan & compressor does blow
cold in
this mode. I'm guessing that a sensor of some kind may be at fault
here,
but don't know where to begin. . Any suggestions?
Also, the power antenna motor no longer works. The antenna is stuck in
mid-low height so reception is not good. I remember hearing once about
a
lower cost but still good quality replacement elect antenna. Any idea
on
availability & where I could locate this?

- The climate control system on your car is fairly complicated. What
you have is a vacuum leak of some kind. It could be in the climate control,
but I would start with the door locks first. Under your hood over by the oil
filter are all your van. lines. There are two yellow lines that connect to a
yellow splitter. Disconnect the lines and plug the end that goes toward the
engine. I use a golf tee. Try your climate control and let me know
what
happens. JON
